Climbing The Mexican Giants

 challenging the big Ixta & Orizaba



Pico de orizaba, Orizaba

Located south of Puebla, with a height of more than 5620 Mt. (18,500 Ft.), this colossus is the third higher mountain in North America even known as Citlaltépetl, his prehispanic name that means "Mountain of the stars".
The Ixtaccihuatl, commonly known as “Sleepy lady” is located in the most volcanic place of Mexico and, with an almosPico de orizaba, Orizabat 5,280 Mt. height (17,154 Ft.) is the third higher mountain in Mexico.
Both, they are the most ambitious mountain challenge. For reach the top we will climb a lot of hours in inclined sand, rock, snow, ice and mix, during the night y the day, in many days  of expedition. But with the old “alpine step” we will arrive in their hedge, and we will get an incredible whew of the impressive crater that and of the Mexican plateau towards the forest of Veracruz and de Mexican Golf.

Trip All Inclusive

Pico de orizaba, OrizabaDay 1: Pick up in Mexico City airport and transfer to Hotel, have dinner and rest.

Day 2: Breakfast an meet in your hotel in the afternoon and drive to Hut Altzomoni on Iztaccíhuatl. Dinner and overnight car Hut at 3,900 Mt. (12,700 Ft.).
Day 3: Breakfast and hike to high camp base on Iztaccíhuatl at at 4,700 Mt (15,000 ft.). Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Breakfast and leave early morning and summit the Iztaccíhuatl (4-6 hours). Transfer to Amecameca (base of Ixta). Dinner, clean up and overnight at Hotel Amecameca.
Day 5: Breakfast and Depart to the village of TlIztaccihuatl, Izta,Ixtaachichuca at the base of Pico de Orizaba. Check into hotel, and sightseeing on your own in the city. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 6: Breakfast and catch our 4-wheel drive shuttle to the Piedra Grande Hut on Pico de Orizaba. Dinner and overnight at hut at 4,200 Mt. (13,800 ft).
Day 7: Breakfast and summit day on Pico de Orizaba! (10-12 hours round trip) and return to Tlachichuca Hotel, dinner and rest.
Day 8: Back to Mexico City (arriving 2 PM), transfer to Mexico City airport.

Day 9: Extra day if your plane fly the next day!

You must deliver the following documents with a month of anticipation*:

·     Have legal age and optimal physical training conditions.

·     Filled up request and signed. Good health certification.

·     Payment receipt (inscription quote).

·     Required equipment (see list at the bottom).

* In case of client cancellation there is no cash rebound (just vaucher).


Trip Cancellation Insurance

We strongly recommend the purchase of trip cancellation and travel insurance. This comprehensive travel insurance provides coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, travel delays, loss of baggage and travel documents, baggage delays, medical expenses, and emergency assistance.


Pico de orizaba, OrizabaEquipment Required (In good conditions)

·     Clothes: Windshield jacket and trousers (Gore tex), 2 polars or fleeces, gloves (more replacing), thermal cap, socks (more replacing).

·      High Mountain boots (cramponables).

·      In order to camp: Sleeping bag, long cushion and frontal lamp.

·      Sun block (protection 50 minimum) and glasses 100% UV.

·      Sandboxes (optional).
